Exhibit: Plasma Sphere

An electric current flows through the low pressure gas inside the glass sphere producing glowing streamers of plasma (a gas consisting of incomplete atoms and electrons). You can also make the fluorescent tubes around the sphere glow if you touch them at their far ends.  Whenever an electric current passes through a gas, light is produced; either a bright spark or a continuous glow.
