Exhibit: Pipes of Pan
Hit the end of the pipes with the paddle and listen to the sounds. Follow the blue light to play a tune. You’ll see red if you get it wrong! Each of the pipes is a different length, because the sound you hear is produced by vibrating air, the longer the pipe the deeper the note. By slapping the end of the pipe, you are sending a sudden burst of compressed air along the pipe. This bounces to and fro between the ends of the pipe, generating a note. Pipes of Pan has fourteen notes, more than enough to play many well know songs, how many can you play?
