Exhibit: Bottle Rocket

Place a bottle in the glowing light reader. The sensor will match the colour of the bottle with one in the firing chamber. Watch as the bottle gets fired high into the exhibition.

It works by using a light sensor in the tube to find the colour of the bottle and is connected to a compressed air supply.  This technology is used in Wrap Cymru’s recycling plants to sort the various types of plastics into different areas to recycle.

This sensor is used with some air jets to fire the bottles into separate areas, 725,000 bottles are thrown away each year while only half are recycled.
